Xi'an is one of the four ancient cities in the world, together with Rome, Cairo and Athens. It is famous for long history and rich culture. This one day tour will give you a great introduction to Chinese culture and traditional custom.

Xi'an was the capital of China for 13 dynasties. Xi'an is just like a live history book, which recorded every change of the Chinese nation. If you are looking to explore Chinese history from the very root upward, Xi'an will be the ideal beginning. In this one day tour, you will visit the most complete ancient city wall in the world, one of the Tang dynasty buildings - Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the national standard Shaanxi History Museum, the Islamic Great Mosque as well as the symbol of Xi'an Bell Tower.

City wall

This ancient city wall which was built in 1370 to 1378 still encircles the old city today. It is 13.7 kilometres long with 17 gates on the wall. Xi'an city wall is the most complete city in the world. We built it as the defence in ancient times and the city wall has gone through the wars for three times already. Since the top of the city wall is 12 metres wide, you even can ride a bicycle on the wall if you have enough time and a nice weather. It will take you about 1.5 hours for the whole circle and you can see the old city from different part of the city as well.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda

Big wild goose pagoda is one of two complete buildings in the Tang dynasty, dating back to 652 year ago. It is 64 meters high, 7stories with a square base under the pagoda. The pagoda has been standing in the ancient Da Cien Buddhist temple for more than 1300 years. The Buddhism scriptures and the statues by whom were taken from India to Xi'an, so they become precious heritage today and they were preserved in the big wild goose pagoda now. From the top of the pagoda you can see the south suburb of Xi'an.

Shaanxi History Museum

The buildings of the history museum were finished in 1991 in Tang dynasty style. There are four exhibition halls that show seven sections of history: from the pre-historic age about 1.5 million years ago to the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. This is the best place where you can know the real Shaanxi history and culture.

Bell tower

As the symbol of Xi'an, Bell tower is located at the very heart of the city. It was built in the Ming dynasty. The Architectural style is traditional Chinese with long eaves which was supported by the crossbeams. You can strike the copy huge bell yourself to hear the sound that can spread across every corner of the old city.

Great Mosque

The Great mosque is close to the Islamic street, in the HuaJue lane. It was built a long time ago as well, dating back to 1,200 years ago in the Tang dynasty. In the Ming dynasty, the emperors asked to repair it. Now it is the biggest mosque for the Muslims to do their services in Xi'an. You can see the buildings of Chinese traditional style with long and bent eaves, and also, you can see the old furniture which was used by the people in the Qing dynasty-300 years ago. The whole mosque looks like a traditional garden, however, it is a really an Islamic mosque that is still used by the Muslims today.

11:40am - 12:30am - Time for lunch

1:00pm - 3:00pm - You will visit the national standard Shaanxi History Museum

3:30pm - 4:30pm - You can visit the symbol of Xian or the Great Mosque

5:00pm - You arrive back at your hotel.
